Ernestine Thompson

November 16, 1926 – October 25, 2018

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place and a celebration of her life will take place, November 3, 2018 at Monte Horbe Church, 2501 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti, Michigan, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.   Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, c/o the funeral home, or flowers can be sent to Dal-Mar Roquemore, 9738 Ravenshire Drive Ypsilanti, Michigan 48198.

Obituary

Age 91, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2018. She was born in Okmulgee, OK, on November 16, 1926, the daughter of the late John and Leatchie (Brigham) White. Ernestine had a strong faith in the Lord and her quiet and giving spirit made her a joy to know. On November 12, 1945, she married the love of her life John B. Thompson. Together they raised and nurtured 11 children. John preceded her in passing on February 1, 1981. She was a hard worker and in 1985 retired from the Inkster Public School System where she worked as a librarian. Ernestine lived life to the fullest and never stopped improving. She lived a clean lifestyle and worked hard to stay healthy. Her mind was sharp and in 1999 at the age of 73 she received her college degree from Madonna University, Livonia Michigan.  Above all Ernestine loved her family and friends. Her heart and home were always open to those in need. She leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived and she will be missed by all who loved her.  Ernestine is survived by 9 children, Joyce (Clifford) Bean, Rod (Zara) Thompson, De-Boi (Pat) Thompson, Everett (Maryam) Thompson, Patricia Thompson, Rotheni Thompson, Dal-Mar Roquemore, Yvon (Larry) DeShazor, Tanuyua Thomson; grandchildren, Jazna,  Tanehesi, Khali, Tony,  DeBoi (Jr.), Yshica, Amir, Tamyra, Teneara, Isaiah, Ryan, Ali, Hamed, Shiva, Arash, Jahnilia, Ahdony, Zenith, Orion, Kara, Alex, Arianna, Ricky, Jaron, Camille, Kyle, Siobhan, several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny and Ralph White; a sister, Louise Green; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also preceded in passing by two sons, Richard and Ronald Thompson.
