A service to honor Pete’s life will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pete will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. contributions may be made to Animal Rescue Project or SPCA of Kalamazoo, c/o the funeral home.
Obituary
Age 70, passed away on Monday morning, July 26, 2021. Pete was born in Kalamazoo, on April 15, 1951, the son of Art and Jean (Dyksterhouse) Post. On September 12, 1992, he married Teresa Ruwart who survives him. Pete was an avid billiards player. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Pete and Teresa enjoyed travelling together in their RV. As a child, his family had a cottage at Gun Lake and he became a barefoot waterskier. Besides his wife, Pete is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Wiersma of Grand Rapids and Sara (Mike) Lewis of Port Charlotte, FL; brother, Kenneth Post of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Our sympathies to Teresa and the entire Post family in the passing of Pete! Pete was a classmate of Steve and mine in the KCHS class of 1969! All of our love To Teresa And Pete’s family and friends. We really loved our Thanksgiving meals and games with Pete! And he was so sweet and kind when we visited with the kids! They all completely adored him and were really really sad to know he had gone. He was a big bear of a man with an even bigger heart, so so kind and gentle and easy to love and we will miss him desperately! Love and lots of hugs to you Teresa.
