Obituary

Age 65, passed away unexpectedly on April 15, 2023. Brad was born in Muskegon, MI, on November 9, 1957, the son of Vernon Dale and Elizabeth “Betty” (Gesink) Nyhoff. Brad graduated from Western Michigan Christian High School, Muskegon. Brad was a conscientious worker, from his first paper route as a teenager to his last employment at Walmart. Brad found joy in simple things: a round of golf, a good puzzle book, finding the perfect action figure for his collection, a belly laugh, and helping out his brother at their church doing grounds work. His family will remember his generous spirit which always shone brightest during the Christmas season with his quirky gifts. Brad is survived by his brother Brian (Melissa) Nyhoff of Kalamazoo; sister, The Rev. Thea (Robert) Leunk of Grand Rapids; special uncles, John Gesink and Bill Gesink; nieces and nephews, Elissa (Tim) Malefyt, Anneke Leunk, Jarrett (Kelsey) Leunk, Andrew (Angie) Nyhoff, Daniel Nyhoff, Brianne Hanley; and several great nieces and nephews; and many friends. Brad was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bruce Nyhoff.

Always loved Brad. What you see is what you get! Something so remarkably refreshingly and welcoming about the simplicity of that! No pretense! I remember quite the few get together back in the day with the Gesink/Nyhoff/Koops klan….what tremendous fun we had playing all kinds of games including “make believe whatever,” and fishing, camping & picnicking, Never forget some of the skirmishes Brian & Brad & even Bruce got into, oh what fun memories! And of course there was the time when Benjy or Brian or someone was casting their fishing pole and caught Brads eyelid or eyebrow with the hook because he insisted it was his turn to use the pole and approached the person casting to interrupt them rather than wait until it was safe….of course he doubted that he would ever get his turn, so what choice did he have! Lol!!! So sorry for your loss Brian & Thea,…and everyone else too! Giving thanks for the special and precious blessing he was to all who knew him and praying Gods comfort will uphold you and assure you as you look to Him for all your needs! Love to All, Karl
