Obituary
Age 72, passed away at her home on September 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Rush City, MN, on December 17, 1951, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Brady) Olson. Kristy was a loving mother, grandmother, sibling and friend who will be missed. She worked hard as the Director of Operations for the Parchment Public School System, was a member of Rotary International and a dedicated homemaker. When not working Kristy loved to travel and enjoyed many family vacations with her children. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and leaves behind many wonderful memories to cherish. She is survived by two children, Melisa A. Mattern and Michael Mattern; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers and many friends. She was also preceded in passing by two siblings.
I worked for Kristy for about 15 years as a school bus driver for Parchment. She made me be the very best that I could be.. Back in the day we didn’t miss work, we had difficult routes but she would make us be strong and taught me how to in her words “suck it up butter cup” lol. She was hard on me as I was a new driver but she was also like a second mom to me. After my mom passed away I went through a divorce and she supported me and helped me through it. I’ll never forget her and I can still her voice in my head sometimes when I’m driving the bus about how to do things the right way, I can hear her say, “ now Marilyn…you know better” Rest in Peace, boss
