A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax, where Alan will be laid to rest next to his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Comstock Community Center or Galesburg United Church of Christ in c/o the funeral home.

Age 74 of Kalamazoo passed away Thursday evening, October 2, 2025. Alan was born in Kalamazoo on June 2, 1951, the son of Everett Jr. and Emma (Moler) Dowdy. Alan was a 1973 graduate of Western Michigan University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He worked for the Flint and Ypsilanti Public School systems as their Chief Financial Officer. Alan was a fan of the University of Michigan, Kalamazoo Wings, Detroit Tigers, WMU football and hockey and the Detroit Red Wings. He was a kind and generous person who will be deeply missed. Alan is survived by his siblings, Karen Dowdy, Greg Dowdy, Mark Dowdy, Curtis Dowdy; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and Kalamazoo including his dear friend, Mary Gustas and his feline companion, Sophie.
