Ann Kathryn Burian, born on January 17, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023. She was the cherished daughter of Kathryn and John Seliskar, along with her six siblings: John, Carl, Paul, Marie, Peter, and Stephen. Ann spent her early years in the welcoming neighborhoods of Cleveland Heights and Middlefield, Ohio, where her artistic spirit began to flourish.

Art was the essence of Ann’s life, and she mastered various mediums, leaving an indelible mark in the world of creativity, with her most notable contributions in fiber arts. She imbued her works with a unique blend of passion, skill, and creativity, captivating the hearts of those fortunate enough to experience her artistry.

Ann pursued higher education and graduated from Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio, setting the stage for a life dedicated to artistry and love. In 1962, Ann married the love of her life, William Burian. Their love story was marked by joy, shared dreams, and profound love for their family.

Together, Bill and Ann built a beautiful life, with two sons, Michael and Matthew. Michael, along with his wife, Anne Mockovak, brought further joy and pride to their lives with their sons, Sam and Alex. Matthew, accompanied by his wife, Karen Mazei, added to the family’s abundance of love and happiness.

Ann’s artistic talent, warmth, and love knew no bounds. She touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In this time of sorrow, we honor Ann’s life and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever alive in the art she created and the love she shared.

In her memory, the family asks that donations to two of Ann’s favorite art organizations be considered. The Textile Center of Minneapolis and Kalamazoo Institute of Arts were both important destinations throughout her life and belief in supporting arts in the community.
