Beverly Joyce Dop, age 79, of Kalamazoo went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 27, 2024, at Provision Living at Oshtemo from complications of Lewy Body Dementia.

Beverly, the daughter of Barney and Marie (Van Arendonk) Hardeman, was born September 17, 1945, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She attended one room schools Brush College and Center Elementary School, along with Rose Hill Community School. Bev graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1963 and went on to attend William Penn University in Oskaloosa.

Bev was baptized at Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa and made profession of her faith in Jesus Christ there as a young woman. In this same church, she was united in marriage to Don Dop on August 4, 1964.

Bev and Don started their married life in Stanwood, Iowa where she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. She also obtained her Real Estate license and worked with Don in their real estate brokerage. During this time, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Darcie. In 1976, they decided to move to a farm in the Rose Hill, Iowa area, and then to Oskaloosa. During this time, Bev worked at Oskaloosa Engineering, Farmers Saving Bank, and Bank Iowa as an accountant.

Bev and Don retired in 2000 and moved to Holland, Michigan to be closer to their daughter and her family, and later to Kalamazoo.

Beverly’s biggest joy in life was being with her family. She enjoyed being a grandmother to Marisa and Carter. A highlight was taking a trip to Alaska with Don, Darcie, Bryce and the grandkids.

Her family includes her husband of 60 years, Don; her daughter, Darcie and son-in-law Bryce Assink; two grandchildren, Marisa Assink and Carter Assink. She is also survived by a brother David (Carol) Hardeman of Rose Hill, Iowa; a sister-in-law Annette Dop of Pella, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Marie Hardeman; her mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Carolyn Dop; and her brother-in-law Gene Dop.

The family would like to thank Provision Living at Oshtemo for Bev’s care for the past two years along with Elara Hospice Caring for their wonderful care, especially nurses Anne and Melissa.
