Age 41, died unexpectedly on August 28, 2017. Brian was born in Kalamazoo on December 1, 1975; the son of Gene H. and Bonnie A. (Leonard) Penny. He was a graduate of Plainwell High School and received his certification in massage therapy from Everest Institute. After graduation from high school, Brian join the U.S. Army. He is survived by his children, Brandon Kemp and Audra, Xander, Gavin and Elliot Penny; parents, Gene and Bonnie Penny; sister, Sarah (Steven) Newland; nieces and nephews, Kellie Ann, John, Isaac and Levi Newland; grandmother, Joyce Penny; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Margaret Leonard and Leonard Penny; and uncle, Mike Penny. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at Kalamazoo Missionary Church, 5045 E. Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, MI, 49048 on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 12:00. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service from 11:00 to 12:00.
