Age 92, passed away Thursday evening, October 12, 2023. Char was born in Niles, MI, on August 22, 1931, the daughter of Leroy and Alta Fern (Maggart) Smith. On October 20, 1956, she married Lawrence Junior Bush, who preceded her in death 14 days ago, almost to the hour. Char worked at American National Bank where she first was an elevator operator and later was the telephone operator. She and Larry enjoyed going out for dinner, especially to the Essen Haus or the Blue Gate. They enjoyed travelling to Florida on family vacations and later in their retirement. She was a devoted wife and mother. Char is survived by her son, Larry (Nancy) Bush; many nieces and nephews including, Nancy Conrad Smith, Kay Conrad, Karen Powers and Phil Smith; and close family members, Larry (Joyce) Hanford and Debbie (Bruce) Steck; and countless friends including her feline friend, Max. Besides her husband, Char was preceded in death by her parents; and eight siblings.
