A memorial service is being planned for a later date. To make a lasting gift in Ron's memory please consider First Congregational Church UCC of Constantine, MI, or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, c/o the funeral home.   My sweet Ronnie, may the peace of the Lord be with you.   You came from love, and to love, you have returned.  My dearest love, I cannot wait to see you again in that place where all our griefs are swallowed up in joy and our love flies free at last.        “Now these three things abide: faith, hope and love. And the greatest of these, is love.”   I Corinthians 13:13

I have been blessed and honored to be able to call Rom my Friend. Ron was one of the most brilliant men that I have known in my lifetime. In addition to being a Dr, he was an amazing aviator holding every FAA fixed and rotary wing aircraft pilot license including instrument ratings offered by our government. That was not enough for Ron as he also held Certified Flight Instructor ratings for IFR and VFR for fixed and rotary winged aircraft. Because he loved every aspect of aviation he earned and A&P (mechanics) rating for the noted aircraft along with an A&P Inspector rating. Ron held more FAA ratings than anyone I ever knew a truly amazing accomplishment. His love for aircraft also had him volunteer at Conrad Aero as an A&P for a number of years even when MS was taking its toll on him. I was fortunate enough to fly with Ron on what I believe was his last flight in a General Aviation Single Engine Aircraft when he was acting as my flight instructor for my bi-annual flight review. Ron was my friend, a mentor and someone I looked up to from the time we first met when he became a member/partner in Kalaire Flying Club. He definately made me a better pilot. In more recent years Ron pushed me into a leadership position in a secret pilots society after I had turned it down several times. I agreed out of respect for him. Ron my friend I will miss you, your knowledge of aircraft and aviation along with your upbeat pleasant demeanor. Rest In Peace my friend and fly high on your journey west, free of the diseases that plagued you here on earth.

I never had the opportunity to meet either Ron nor Kathy but, I do know the love of the Constantine UCC Church and the loss of a spouse who was my soul mate! Sending my prayers and wishes for finding the blessings in the loss of one so loved! God bless you all!

Dr. Schuen was a brilliant man, respected in many circles and he struck me as a true helpmate to his beloved wife Kathy, who pastored ..still pastors.. her flock at the First Congregational Church-UCC. It was an honor to know Dr. Schuen. He was fiercely proud of his family, and he delighted in interacting with the congregation, specifically following a service. Rest in peace, Dr. Schuen
