Age 86, passed away Wednesday evening, February 15, 2023. Martin was born in Middletown, OH, on August 31, 1936, the son of Everett Mason and Millie (Palmer) Egelston. On January 14, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart Kathleen A. Pierson who preceded him in death in 2019. Following high school, Martin attended Miami University in Ohio where he received his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He received his Ph.D from the University of Chicago. Martin was an avid gardener and had won awards for his gardening. He enjoyed writing. He was a tutor for the Northwestern University sports students, a position he truly loved. Martin is survived by his children, Mark (Amy) Egelston, of Miamisburg, OH, Marcella (Bruce) Garrett, of Deerfield, IL, Seth (Nancy) Egelston, of Battle Creek, MI, Phillip (Deanna) Egelston, of Rockville, MD; eight devoted grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Sims; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Becky Egelston; and three sisters.
