Earl P. Merz, age 92, of West Michigan, passed on to his eternal home on March 1, 2023.

Earl was born on July 30, 1930, in Conklin, Michigan. He was a pastor in the Lutheran Church for over 60 years serving congregations in Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan.

Earl was a passionate servant of God who received his joy and energy in serving others. He also loved watching and encouraging all his children and grandchildren in their artistic and athletic pursuits.

Earl is survived by his wife, Glennice, of 68 years and his six children: Cindy (Bruce) Torgerson, Sue (Dan) Scheerhorn, Kathy (Kevin Morrison) Harmon, Gene (Caroline) Merz, Glenn (Sherry) Merz, and MaryJo Merz. He also is survived by 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A service will be held for Pastor Earl Merz on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Edgewood Lutheran Church, 2525 E. Pontaluna Rd, Fruitport, Michigan at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon at the church. The visitation will be from 1:30-3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either Edgewood Lutheran Church or Love in Action of the Tri-Cities (loveinactiontricities.org).
