Age 81, passed away at Bronson Hospital on April 5, 2018. He was born in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Thomas and Jennie Stob. Ed was a kind man who loved his family and friends. He served our country in the Army until being honorably discharged. He was a hard worker who retired from a career in banking. When not working, Ed enjoyed playing Ping-Pong at the Portage Senior Center, playing piano, listening to jazz and classical music and playing chess and tennis. He gave of his time freely and volunteered with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Ed enjoyed grilling and family gatherings. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of S.W. Michigan. Ed’s smile and laughter will be missed by all who loved him. He leaves behind many wonderful memories for his children and grandchildren to cherish. In 1965, he married his loving wife Nancy Stob who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Jane (Frank) Gonzalez and Karen (Marc) VanLent; four grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Gonzalez, Lauren and Carter VanLent; a sister, Grace VanDellen; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in passing by five siblings, Dorothy, Evelyn, Eleanor, Tom Jr. and Jim.
