Age 97, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023. Fred was born in Paw Paw, Michigan on August 22, 1925, the son of the late Itha and Natalie Gay. In 1946, he married the former Clara M. Postma, who preceded him in death in 1996. Fred was also preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Gay and his sister, Edith Parker. Fred loved to travel and taking trips with his family to northern Michigan. He enjoyed golfing and dancing, especially Friday night dancing with Clara and his family. He retired from the Eckrich Meat Company. After Clara’s death, Fred enjoyed the friendship of two companions, Althea and Edna, both of whom also preceded him in death. He cherished his memories of car trips to Las Vegas, Canada and elsewhere with his wife, as well as with Althea and Edna. Fred is survived by his son, Joe (Kris Wasche) Gay. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral home. A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Centrica Care Navigators.
