A funeral service will be held on Friday, August, 4, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Visitation will take place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Comstock Community Center.

Age 85, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023. Harriet was born in Jackson, Michigan on October 21, 1937, the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Vandenberg) Howe. She was employed as a control clerk at Borgess Hospital for 36 years. Harriet enjoyed volunteering and was a member of the Comstock Community Center and belonged to the Burr Oak Rebeccas. She is survived by her son, Steven LaVere; son in-law, Donald Luce; granddaughter, Christina Luce; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; brother in-law, Edward VandenBerg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Smith; daughter, Donna Luce; granddaughter, Michelle Luce; grandson, Donald Luce II; brothers, Holroyd, Leo and Robert Howe and sisters, Olive LaCoss, Carol VandenBerg, Leila Moore and Virginia Brown.
