Jeff will be laid to rest in a graveside service on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta. Those wishing to attend should meet in the cortege assembly area of the cemetery at 1:15 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Save the Music Foundation, in c/o the funeral home.

Age 65 of Kalamazoo passed away on May 12, 2025. Jeff was born in Watervliet, MI, on February 21, 1960, the son of William and Phyllis (Ragsdale) Hinton. Jeff was a 1978 graduate of Portage Central High School. He served his nation in the United States Army. Jeff had worked as a music roadie at Wings Stadium, the State Theatre, as well as on tour. He had also worked as a cab driver for Checker cab. As a cook at Poor Richard’s he was known as “Chef Jeff.” In his spare time he liked music, watching sports like Nascar, basketball, and football. He was a diehard Lions fan – Go Lions! He loved playing chess and was extremely good at it. He also liked reading and telling a good joke. Jeff was a good person who knew the Lord Jesus and knew that he was in God’s loving embrace, however he struggled with addiction. Jeff is survived by his siblings, William (Gloria) Hinton, Rebecca Smith, Nancy Hinton, and David Hinton; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Melinda Katz, Susan Gibson; brother-in-law, Dave Smith.
