Age 80, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away on August 22, 2025, at Centrica Rose Arbore Place. She was born in Akron, OH, on August 10, 1945, the daughter of the late Robert and Maxine (Kolb) Black. Judith was a kind and loving woman who had a strong will and gritty determination. She believed in standing up for what was right, and her heart was always open to helping others. While living in Ohio she fought the legislature for women’s rights and made a great impact. After the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, she successfully challenged her employer to allow women to put their spouses on their health insurance and also fought the state legislature to allow wives to have their own name on credit cards. She loved her family and leaves behind many wonderful memories to be cherished. Judith’s smile, laughter and grit will be missed by all who knew her. Judith is survived by her only son, Daniel (Jennifer) McMillan; former husband and lifelong best friend, Gary McMillan; brother, Robert Black; extended family and friends. She was also preceded in passing by a daughter Jennifer McMillan; parents; and sister, Pamela (Black) Baker.
