Age 77, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Kathy was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on December 29, 1944, the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Byers) Crakes. Kathy attended high school at Loy Norrix and went on to take courses at Davenport College. She worked at the Portage Police Department, Western Michigan University’s parking department and ended her career at the Family Independence Agency. Kathy enjoyed traveling, camping, going out to breakfast and monthly lunch dates with her closest friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathy is survived by her son, Steve (Toni) Allen; daughter, Amy (Harold) Peters; grandchildren: Lindsey, Maddie and Clark (Erica Block) Allen, Adrianne (TC) Dinse and Codi (John Schoenneman) Steward; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Easton Dinse and Kingsley and Minka Echols; sister, Donna (Dick) Underwood and many nieces, nephews and very close friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on the day of the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Gift of Life of Michigan or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
