Age 61, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017. Kathleen “Kathi” was born May 22, 1956 to the late William and Jane (Bjork) Shirey in Marquette, MI. She is survived by an older brother, Dave (Jackie) Shirey of Parchment and younger sister, Susan (Tom) Smith of Edwardsburg. She especially enjoyed being an aunt to her nephews and nieces, Brian (Grace) Shirey, Jock (Kim) Shirey, Alicia Smith, Monica (Joe) Soltis and five grandnephews/nieces. Kathi’s career as a Certified Dental Assistant extended over 37 years, having most recently worked at Drake Dental, Kalamazoo. Her joy was making a child’s dental experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Other activities she participated in during her life included league bowling, church, Girl Scouts, and family camping. Her family would like to express their gratitude to Kairos Dwelling and Reverence Hospice for the excellent care and compassion they gave Kathi while in their care.
