PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE Due to inclement weather the previously scheduled graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Larry will be laid to rest at East Cooper Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in c/o the funeral home.

Age 89, passed away Thursday night, September 28, 2023. Larry was born in Parchment, MI, on April 9, 1934, the son of Lawrence and Velma (Hanford) Bush. On October 20, 1956, he married Charlotte Mae Smith, who survives him. Larry was a plumber for the Kalamazoo Public Schools for 27 years. Larry enjoyed many things in life. He bowled for many years. He enjoyed his 1948 Plymouth that he helped restore. He also enjoyed traveling to Florida. After his retirement he taught himself to play the guitar and played many years with a group of friends at different locations and probably enjoyed this more than anything. Besides his wife, Larry is survived by his son, Larry (Nancy) Bush; many nieces and nephews including, Nancy Conrad Smith, Kay Conrad, Karen Powers and Phil Smith; cousins, Larry (Joyce) Hanford and Debbie (Bruce) Steck; and countless friends including his feline friend, Max. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Byron Day; and five brothers.
