I shall miss Uncle Maurie. We had a long distance relationship and he was sure to tend to it as often as he could. He promised my dad years ago that he would look after me from afar, and he did just that; I am ever grateful. We had a special relationship, as we always called it. The angsty times were spent lifting the other. The sad times were listening to one another providing an ear and no judgement. And the happy times were filled with much laughter. Uncle Maurie did not live an easy life, but he trusted in God and in family; and he was a kind human being, who always acknowledged his faults - perhaps to a fault. But no one can deny his love for life. I shall miss his spirit which was so determined to love life no matter what hurdles stood in his way. Be at peace with yourself now, Uncle Maurie!
