Michael Zimmerman, age 74, of Portage, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place. Michael was born June 7, 1951, in Kalamazoo, the son of Richard and Ruthann (Katzenberger) Zimmerman. He graduated from Portage Northern High School and spent many years working as a semi-truck driver before retiring. He later worked as a school bus driver for Portage Public Schools. Michael enjoyed driving sprint cars, fishing, and hockey, and he especially valued coaching his sons’ hockey teams. On June 9, 1984, in Portage, Michael was united in marriage to Vicki (Knoll) Zimmerman, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Tony (Caitlyn) Zimmerman and Nick Zimmerman; and a nephew, Robert Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Zimmerman.
