A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at a later date. A private family internment was held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators/Hospice at 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo MI 49009.

Mildred (Millie) passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Friendship Village in Kalamazoo. Millie was born December 8, 1925 in Midland, Michigan. She was the daughter of Russell and Flora (Stange) Dent. Millie graduated from Midland High School and then studied at Central Michigan University. She was employed for a short time by the Dow Chemical Company in Midland. Millie was united in marriage to Deane Meredith on September 29, 1951 in Midland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deane on April 11, 2008, as well as her brothers Wilford (Virginia) Dent and Duane (Nancy) Dent and sister Marian (Clifford) Roberts. Millie and Deane were members of the Second Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. Millie professed her faith as a Christian and met with women friends to study the Bible. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Portage. While living at Friendship Village, Millie sang in the Women’s Chorus. Growing up as a child, she spent a lot of time at her family’s cottage at Houghton Lake. As Millie and Deane’s family grew, they especially enjoyed many fun times at the cottage fishing and playing cards/board games with family and friends. As a family, they toured the United States and Canada, first camping in a tent and then with their travel trailer. In their later years, Deane and Millie took several cruises including trips to Alaska, the Panama Canal, South America, the Caribbean, and down the Amazon River. Millie was a skillful seamstress. She was a great cook and was especially known for her decadent desserts. Millie had an appreciation for architecture; she enjoyed looking at house plans and watching the TV program, This Old House. Millie’s life was defined by love, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to family. Surviving her are her three children, Janice Campbell, Brian (Gwen) Meredith and JoAnn (Joseph) Bennett; three grandchildren, Laura (Dan Walters) Campbell, Chris Campbell, and Shannon Campbell; three great-grandchildren, Nikolas Walters, Kira Campbell, and Elena Walters; and several nieces and nephews.
