Age 84, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away at Centrica Rose Arbor Place surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Kalamazoo on August 17, 1941, the daughter of the late Claire and Margarite (Steere) Chappell. She grew up in Kalamazoo and would remain a lifelong resident. She graduated from Portage Central High School. While there she met the love of her life Jack Koole. They were united in marriage in 1961 and enjoyed 64 years together. Nancy was a loving wife, dedicated mother and involved grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and friends and leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. Nancy was able to accomplish anything she worked at, and was gifted at quilting, knitting and several other crafts. She enjoyed collecting and refurnishing antiques and had an extensive doll collection. She was a proud American and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nancy enjoyed cooking and baking; her home was the gathering place for holidays and special events and no one left hungry. She believed in the Lord and her Christian faith served as a strong foundation for her life. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Portage. Above all Nancy loved her family. Her greatest joy came from watching her children and grandchildren grow. Her smile, laughter and love will be missed. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Jack; sons, John (Sharon) Koole, Gerald (Connie) Koole; grandchildren, Daryl, Jason, Racheal (Sam), Gavin and Makayla; great-granddaughter, Aurora; extended family and friends. She was also preceded in passing by a sister, Jane.
