Age 90, of Kalamazoo, passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones. Andy was born in Kalamazoo on January 28, 1935, the son of the late Andrew R. and Susie (Meyer) Huizenga. Andy was a lifetime resident of Kalamazoo and was known by many throughout the community. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was an integral part of the Hungarian Church which played a strong role in his heritage and life. When the church closed, Andy attended the Stockbridge Methodist Church and was currently a member at Bethany Reformed Church on Burdick Street. Andy lived his life within walking distance of every church he attended; he loved his church fellowship and considered the congregation as his family! He was a talented organist; a gift he shared with the church and others throughout his life. Andy was a quiet and gentle person who loved spending time around flowers and in the garden. Throughout his life he worked for Flipse Floral Shop, VanderSalm’s Flower Shop and Seivert’s Floral. Andy always greeted customers with a smile and enjoyed brightening their day with a beautiful arrangement. He was artistic and creative and enjoyed painting with watercolors and photography. Above all Andy was known to be genuinely supportive of others and was a selfless person who would do whatever he could to make a positive difference. His smile, laughter and love will be missed by all who knew him. On October 5, 2018, he married Nancy (Traxler) Huizenga who survives. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Terry Traxler, Donald (Crickett) Traxler, David Traxler and Douglas Traxler; sister-in-law, Patricia New; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and many friends including Michael Argue
