A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be made to Robert's family (checks made payable to Mindy Sims), in c/o the funeral home.

Age 82 of Kalamazoo passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025. Robert was born in Gallipolis, OH on October 22, 1942, the son of Clark and Virginia Swisher. Robert was an avid poker player and was in the same Sunday poker group for years. He also enjoyed bowling. He loved going to the sporting events of the grandchildren. He was a handy person and worked for several different construction and roofing companies over the years. Robert is survived by his children, Lisa Calvert, Mindy (Mike) Sims, Tracy King; grandchildren, Matthew (Alisha) Gibson, Megan Sims, Mikala (Thomas) Shilton, Sara Calvert; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Brooklyn, Lance and Baby Shilton soon to arrive; and many friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his long-time friend and fiancee, Juanita King; grandson, Jeffrey Calvert, Jr.; and Robert and Juanita’s special four-legged companion, Max.
