Roger Rothi, 88, of Kalamazoo, passed away on January 1, 2026. Roger was born on October 17, 1937, in Muskegon, Michigan, to James O. and Leota (Kem) Rothi. He lived a full life marked by loyalty, humor, and a strong moral compass rooted in honesty and integrity. He believed in effort, accountability, and personal responsibility, often reminding those around him that “can’t never did anything.” Roger married the love of his life, Patricia A. Ramer, on April 11, 1959. Their marriage spanned decades and was the foundation of a family he was deeply proud of. If you knew Roger, you knew his sense of humor — dry, quick, and perfectly timed. You also knew his love of golf. He wasn’t just an avid golfer; he was a good one, the kind who respected the game and played it with focus and joy. The golf course was one of his happy places, and many friendships were formed there over the years. Roger was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, Class of 1956, and attended Western Michigan University. He proudly served his country for three years in the United States Marine Corps, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of discipline, responsibility, and fairness. Professionally, Roger worked for over 29 years at Comerica Bank in Kalamazoo and later as a self-employed accountant and tax preparer. He was known for his reliability and his straightforward, ethical approach — someone people trusted because he did things the right way. Roger was a member of Grace Harbor Church (formerly Westwood Church of God), the Westside Lions Club, B.P.O.E. Lodge 50, and the American Institute of Banking. Above all, Roger was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Larry R. Rothi, Todd W. (Pamela) Rothi, and Schelli M. (Michael) Rothi; his grandchildren, Cassy and Joe Langley, Kayla Schultz, and Evan Rothi; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Clare L. (Ann) Rothi; along with nieces, nephews, and many friends.
