Age 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Ruth was born in Harrisburg, IL on December 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Thomas and Vera (Love) Allen. She was a 1944 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. Ruth was a long-time member of Hope Reformed Church. She served as the director of security at First National Bank and Trust/First of America until her retirement in 2000. Ruth was also very involved with Silent Observer Program of Kalamazoo County, serving as its president since 1983. She enjoyed softball, bowling, golf, sewing and basket weaving. On June 26, 1968 she married John H. Hoag, who preceded her in death on August 11, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Sootsman; brothers, Willis, Wayne (Pearl), Robert and Harold Allen and sisters, Evelyn Pratt and Delores Ochs. She is survived a son, Daniel Sootsman, in-laws, Theresa Allen, Betty Allen, Kenneth Pratt and Robert Ochs; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Cindy, Kevin, Marcus and Ali Kole.
