Timothy Edward VanTuyl, 61, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away early Saturday morning, March
21, 2026, after a chronic illness.

He was born on October 21, 1964, in Kalamazoo, MI, to Marvin Hurley and Barbara Louise (nee Forbes) VanTuyl and graduated in 1983 from Comstock High School.

Tim enjoyed watching sports and was passionate about basketball, especially in the month of March. He enjoyed cooking for friends and family and was known to have a freezer full of portioned out leftovers to easily reheat for quick meals. He professed to be a born-again Christian who grew up as a Methodist and continued church affiliation throughout his lifetime, often donating online whenever he was unable to attend services in person. He spent his final months with his niece and her family, being able to cook for them on his good days and interact in a family setting.

He is survived by best friends, Caroline Smith and Bob Kurbis; father, Marvin H VanTuyl, a sister; sister-in-law, Laura K VanTuyl, three nephews, four nieces, a great-nephew, two great-nieces, and his pretty kitty cat, Patches. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara L (Forbes) VanTuyl, stepmother Marlene F VanTuyl, and brother Michael A VanTuyl.
