A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, beginning at 10.00 a.m. Wilma will be laid to rest with Clarence at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators, in c/o the funeral home.

Age 90 of Portage passed away early Friday morning, November 14, 2025. Wilma was born in on March 4, 1935, the daughter of Theodore and Veva (Pfifer) Newman. On September 6, 1957 she married Clarence ”Bud” Bierenga, who preceded her in death in 2022. Wilma enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She had several jobs during her life including positions at Dykema’s, J.C. Penney, and Richards Plumbing. Wilma was a long-time member at Lake Center Bible Church and later worshipped at Oakwood Bible Church. In recent years she attended Calvary Bible Church with her daughter. Wilma loved listening to Christian music, especially the music of the Gaither’s. Nothing was more important to her than her family. Wilma is survived by her children Richard (Laurie) Bierenga and Diane Bierenga; grandchildren, Jeffrey Bierenga and Steven Bierenga; great-granddaughter, Nautia; brother, Ted Newman; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Besides her husband, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Rachel Ozanich; sister, Judy Bowen
