In accordance with Alice’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service, but a graveside service will be held at a later date at West Oshtemo Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
Obituary
Age 86, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, with her family by her side. Alice was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on February 8, 1934, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Gladys (Rix) Winchell. She retired from the 9th District Court in Kalamazoo after many years of employment. Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Deem; son, Terry Deem; step-daughters, Carla Epson and Debra Deem; sisters, Arlus Mason and Cora Belle Smith and brother, Melvin Thomas Winchell. She is survived by her children, Michael Deem and Lori (Christopher) Reid; step-daughter, Vicki Weigand; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

When I was a kid Alice and her first husband lived four houses behind us, on Cornell St. I never really knew Alice, she always seemed quiet and friendly. I remember Alice being married to Carl, a police officer with KPD.
