In accordance with Alma’s wishes, cremation will take place and a gathering to celebrate her life will be held in the future. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church, c/o the funeral home. Family and friends are encouraged to leave a condolence message.
Obituary
Age 82, made her final journey on Thursday June 18, 2020. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 15, 1937, the daughter of Ezekiel, Sr. and Fannie Guidry. In 1948, she and her family moved to Michigan where she attended Benton Harbor High School. Alma was loved by everyone that she met and never met a stranger. She loved playing games with her sister until the early morning hours. She met her husband at church and married the love of her life, Marshall Henning on September 22, 2004 and they most recently celebrated 15 years of marriage. Alma’s faith was the center of her life and her love of the Lord was evident in how she lived and loved. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Marshall, her children, daughter, Jennie (Robert) Pryor, son, Alvin “Ray” Roseburgh, Sisters, Eirlen (William) Brown and Inez (Ernest) Hester, brothers Profit (Arie) Guidry and Ezekiel, Jr. (Icie) Guidry, as well as 3 grandchildren; Reginald (Janice) Roseburgh, Ambreiuss (Marion) Williams, and Isaac (Angela) Roseburgh, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, James Roseburgh, 8 brothers and a sister.
To Marshall and Alma’s family, I’m so sorry for your loss. I have known Alma for many years, attending church together and being in a small group together. I know Alma was looking forward to meeting her Savior. She would speak to me and write about it, how she was ready to leave this world and be with Jesus. She was such an example of faith and strength in the Lord. She always had an encouraging word to give and a smile and laugh to go with it. Her love for the Lord was evident in her life and the joy of the Lord truly was her strength. I will miss her dearly. Her letters and phone calls were always a light to my day.
To all of Alma’s family, Alma was a special friend to David and I since before we were married 30 years as go. We used to do many fun things together with her. Unfortunately, we did not see her much after she moved to Michigan but did get to talk her now and again. We are so sorry for your loss. We pray God’s peace and blessings on your family. I never have met anyone as sweet spirited as Alma. Always a smile, always filled with faith. A great loss for friends and family who knew her. Her battle is over. She kept the faith and is face to face with The Lord whom she adored Love in Jesus name, Carolyn Streby
