Obituary

WRIGHT, Andrew S.
Kalamazoo
Age 28, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Andrew was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on January 16, 1996, the son of Greg A. and Tamara S. (Kiger) Wright. He graduated from Mattawan High School in 2014, where he was active in the marching band and student government and played basketball. After high school, Andrew held many jobs in food service as a server. He had a big heart and a giving spirit, even though he himself didn’t have much to give. Andrew cared deeply about people and always made sure to make those around him feel loved. He loved spending time with his family and friends, as much as he possibly could. Andrew was a gifted musician and artist and was always playing or listening to music. He was an avid fan of the Harry Potter series, watching the movies and reading the books multiple times. He spent time making his own Harry Potter wand and would reenact scenes with his younger sister. Andrew even made a Harry Potter Clue game. He had an endless imagination and was talented in many ways. Andrew also enjoyed spending time at his family’s cabin in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he, his sister and cousins would brave the cold Lake Superior water, balancing on giant driftwood logs. He also spent many hours riding ATVs with his grandparents and parents. Andrew is survived by his parents, Greg and Tammy Wright; sister, Alison Wright; grandparents, Daniel and Janet Wright and Steve Kiger; aunt and uncle, Julie and Jim Dronen and cousins, Tiffany (Justin) Bates, Max Dronen, Mackenzie Wright and Cara Wright. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Linda Kiger; great-grandparents, Virginia and Richard Kiger; uncle, Troy Wright and great uncle and aunt, Merle and Alice Howson. A memorial service to celebrate Andrew’s life will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Bible Church, 855 South Drake Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful son. I am praying daily for you that you may lean into God’s strength, love and peace . He knows how much you are hurting. What a wonderful gift you as parents gave Andrew to know Jesus. Jesus had His arms wide open and embraced your son.. He welcomed him to Heaven an He told Andrew, you are worthy, you are a master piece, you are healed, you are loved, you are a child of God. Please know I will continue to pray for your entire family that you may find peace and comfort in our Lord Jesus Christ.

I don’t know any of you but I just want to say I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t say I know what you are going through but I have been through a tragic loss. In 2006 my husband died on our motorcycle in an accident. that was the worst day of my life and come to realize life was never going to be the same and I know how that hurts God is the only way I had gotten through it l had drifted away for years. I turned a negative situation into a positive one I had become to realize that the reason he died it led me back to the Lord. please pray the serenity prayer every day that is exactly what I did for a year that helped me get through it .i have prayed that I never lose my own God knows I couldn’t handle that I send you hugs and love I’m sorry for your loss
