Obituary
Age 20, passed away at home on April 11, 2021, four days short of her 21st birthday. Calissa was born on April 15, 2000, in Three Rivers, MI, the daughter of Aletha J. Binion. From the beginning Calissa faced great challenges but through her life, her spirit and love for others shined through. She loved being around family and friends. She had an infectious smile and brought joy to all those she met. The way she faced her difficulties was an inspiration to those she would meet, and her impact will always be felt. Calissa loved to sing and dance, enjoyed food, coloring, and playing with her dolls. She was a wonderful sister and aunt who always found a way to make her love known. Calissa’s warmth and life will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her mother, Aletha; siblings, Srey, Paris and Allen; niece and nephew, Aubrielle and Asahd; two uncles, William and Bradley, three aunts, Michele, Teresa and Angela; godmother, Bernadette; many extended family and friends. She was preceded in passing by her grandparents, William and Yvonne Binion; great-grandmother, Clarice Curry.
Callisa I am truly going to miss your smile that would brighten up anyone’s day. And the hugs you gave me when I would come visit you guys. You are greatly missed but I know God has an angel and that’s you keep smiling sweet girl.
We are the next door neighbors of Calissa’s classroom, and she was a frequent visitor to our room. One of our students who rode the bus with her mentioned that she always stepped on the bus with a huge smile. That’s one of the recurring themes in our discussions about Calissa- her great smile, and silly sense of humor that always made us laugh. She was a kind and caring friend, and an absolute favorite of Stanley, the YAP dog- he loved her! She will be greatly missed, and her spirit will be kept alive by her friends in our class. We will hold Calissa’s family close in our hearts, with sympathy and supportive wishes. RIP, dear girl.
