Obituary

Calvin Prude, age 64 passed away peacefully at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan covered with his family’s love on Wednesday May 12, 2021.  Calvin was born on May 17, 1956 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Mr. and Mrs. Chester and Lucy Mae Prude.

Calvin worked at Western Michigan University and Sunnyside Church prior to COVID-19 shut down. At his death, he was working for SECURITY Plus LLC, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Those who knew Calvin; knew he was a hard worker and was not afraid of getting his hands dirty. He was a “Jack of all Trades!”

Calvin was blessed with being “Mechanically Gifted”.  If you needed your Television, Radio, Air Conditioner or whatever fixed - Calvin could fix it!  He also, loved being around his family and friends, especially spending time with his (3) uncles, Robert Prude, Akin Prude, and Dennis Prude. Calvin meets no strangers!  After meeting him, folks gravitated and grew to love him.  Especially, his nature, his kindness, sense of humor and storytelling. Calvin was the World’s Greatest Author of Fiction Storytelling.  He kept everyone entertained and laughing.

Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Lucy Mae Prude, brother, Ernest Irby, Jr., sister, Lora Ann Prude; and niece Rochelle C. Irby.

Calvin leaves behind to cherish in his memory; daughter, Jeanette R. McClinton of Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren: Johnathan McClinton, Antonio Williams, Jr. and  Jeremiah McClinton all of Kalamazoo, MI; great-granddaughter: Naibrea, Odem of Battle Creek, MI; brother: Duane Prude of Kalamazoo, MI; sisters: Willie M. Powell White of Chicago, IL; Gertie M. Irby Robinson (LeRoy) of Kalamazoo, MI; and Billie Barber of New Port, Virginia; sister in law, Beulah Irby of Kalamazoo, MI; uncles: Charlie Prude (Mary) of Carrollton Alabama; Robert Prude (Irma-Sally); Dennis Prude (Carol); and Akin Prude all of Kalamazoo, MI; aunts, Ester Williams, Carrollton, Alabama, May Prude and Rose Prude, both of Kalamazoo, MI; A companion, Deborah Hall; and a friend Bernice Carter both of Kalamazoo, MI; a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephew great-great-nieces, cousins, and other relatives and life-long friends.

Prayers to Gertie, Daune and all the rest of the family. I will always keep the family close In my heart. Since 1971 the Prude and Irby family showed me nothing but love. I will miss seeing Sugh but I know that he 8s now resting with Ms Lucy, Chester and Lori Ann along with Big brother Ernie. God bless you all.

Uncle sug you will be missed and that is a understatement all the joy and Karishma you bring ,by just being you, you were a one of a kind uncle. life could not hold you down, nothing could take your joy away or stop your stories .We have countless moments that will be forever in my heart you where the only uncle I knew. Knowing you in a better place and with my father,aunt, grandmother and grandfather brings me peace. My uncle Calvin Lee Prude (Sugh). It was so hard for me to let you go… I WILL TRULY MISS YOU! I have so many undeniable great memories of us talking, laughing and just spending time together. Not only that your were there for me when I needed you. I won’t ever forget the last time we spoke the Saturday before you passed. I know you are in Heaven now with The Lord, my mom (Loriann), Papa, Mama, and Uncle Jr. So you are surrounded by love and I know you will be looking down on me and those 3 great nephews and great niece of yours. Love and Miss You Emensly.
