Obituary

Age 27, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Chris was born in Kalamazoo on November 30, 1994, the son of Michele Smith and Lee Bommer. Chris loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and camper. As a child he spent time with his mom, sister and grandpa camping in the Upper Peninsula. He was a great Michigan State basketball fan. Chris was a mama’s boy, and even in his adult years was never afraid to say “I love you” to her in front of others. He was affectionate and gave the greatest hugs. He loved his little sister even though they didn’t exactly grow up together, being ten years apart in age. He was always helpful in many ways; in the yard, around the house, and in anyway possible. He had a great sense of humor and could always make others laugh. Chris is survived by his daughter, Iva; mother, Michele Smith of Kalamazoo; his father, Lee Bommer of Plainwell; sister, Lauryn Foster; grandmothers, Janice Raynes-Fuhrman, Mary (Jim) Bennison; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and countless friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Garry Smith and Russell Bommer.

We Were Very Good Friends Of Chris’ , I’m Still Trying To Process This Because I Was Just With Him On The Last Of His Days Helping Him Clean His Room, Playing 2k, & Call Of Duty With Him!! I Don’t Know How Or Why This Happened But I’m Sorry And I Wish Things Could Be Different.. I’ll Never Forget The Memories We Made, Going Fishing Together Was Our Favorite Thing To Do While Hanging Out. This Isn’t Easy Losing One Of My Good Friends But I Know He’s In A Better Place Now & Not Stressing..
