A graveside service to honor and celebrate Darlene’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in c/o the funeral home.
Obituary
Darlene Kay Miller, age 80, passed away at Alamo Cove Nursing Home on August 31, 2026. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on July 14, 1946, the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Tembrink) VanderHorst. Darlene was kind, gentle and loving. She would remain a lifelong resident of Southwest Michigan and made her home in Vicksburg. Her gardening skills were a gift, and her flower beds were always immaculately kept. She loved animals and was especially fond of horses and farm animals. She also enjoyed traveling, taking a cruise or two, and eagerly anticipated family gatherings. On April 22, 1967, she married Robert “Bob” Miller who preceded her in passing in 2016. To know Darlene was to love her and she will be missed. She is survived by two children Scott and Bobbie Miller; a grandson, Jeremiah; sisters-in-law, Sue VanderHorst and Judy VanderHorst; nephews, David (Coleen) VanderHorst, Ron (Jennifer) Miller, Dan (Dee) VanderHorst, Doug (Gerriann) VanderHorst; nieces, Denise VanderHorst, Darla (Tim) Shepard, Dawn Miller; many other in-laws, extended family and friends. She was also preceded in passing by two brothers, Duane VanderHorst and Dennis VanderHorst.
