Obituary

On Monday, May 11, 2020, David passed away peacefully at home under the care and love of his children and grandchildren, he was 81 years old.  David was born in Schoolcraft, MI, on May 6, 1939, the son of the late Lawrence and Flora (Bingham) Rhoda. After graduating from Schoolcraft High School, he proudly served our country as Private First Class in the Marines Corps until being honorably discharged in 1960. He returned to make Schoolcraft his home and was always proud of his community. David had a kind heart and was always generous. He loved delivering his homemade salsa and pickles to friends, neighbors, family and his doctors and nurses. David had a wonderful smile and personality which made him a joy to know. His home and heart were always open, all were welcome. Nothing made him happier than when his children and grandchildren would visit. He especially loved taking his grandchildren fishing and on John Deere “Gator” rides down the trails and back roads. They were the light of his life and he leaves them with wonderful memories to cherish. David will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by five children, Dennis (Karen) Rhoda, Don (Lorri) Rhoda, Larry (Missie) Rhoda, Steve (Tammy) Rhoda, Kim (Jim) Hamilton; twelve grandchildren, Trevor, Alyssa, Adam, Kyler, Macayla, Gabe, Halie, Trae, Jadyn, Bailee, Gavin and Olivia; four siblings, John Rhoda, Albert Rhoda, Nancy Fellner, Ruth (Larry) Cowan; Gayla Sager, a very special friend and companion with whom he spent the last ten years.

Condolences to the family. Although did not have contact with David since the late 50’s, other than I believe at his father’s funeral, I remember David as a cheerful, fun loving guy. Also, his siblings should well remember our family. Our family will forever be grateful to the Rhoda family for the opportunity they provided to us by helping farm their beautiful farm. We wish you all the Lord’s blessings, and please keep me informed when, and if, it would be possible to participate in the celebration of his life. I live in Three Rivers and would be very appreciative to see you all.
