David M. Heggie of Scotts, MI, age 51, passed away at Beacon Hospital in Kalamazoo on October 31, 2026. He was born in Suttgart Bad-Cannstatt, Germany, the son of Dr. Glen and Claudia (Hőfer) Heggie. David would spend his childhood living in Alabama and as a teenager moved to Idaho. He graduated from Twin Falls High School Class of 1993. Later in life he moved to Michigan and earned a bachelor degree from Western Michigan University. He began working for Pfizer where he was employed for 25 years. David was a kind, adventurous and outgoing man who lived life to the fullest. He had many hobbies and passions. In his youth he was a gifted equestrian. He would come to find freedom in traveling the world. He was known to stick a pin in a map and call that his next destination. He was especially fond of his trip to Thailand and was drawn to the people and culture of that place. When not working or traveling he enjoyed spending Saturday afternoon’s tailgating and cheering for UofM and Alabama football. Above all David loved his family and his friends. His smile, laughter and free spirit will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by a daughter, Hayden Heggie; mother, Claudia Heggie; siblings, Patrick Trujillo, Melanie Christler, Raegen Mathews, Alex Heggie and Glen Heggie Jr.; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded by his father, Dr. Glen Heggie and aunt, Tosca B. Washington.
