Obituary
David M. Kabbe age 64 of Kalamazoo passed away March 28, 2026. Dave was born in Kalamazoo on August 2, 1961, the son of David Stewart and Betty Jean (Conklin) Kabbe. Dave was an enthusiast of anything with two wheels; bicycles, minibikes, motorcycles, and BMX bikes. He even could build, rebuild, or restore BMX bikes. Besides his collection of two wheeled things, he was also a fan of comic books. He was an amazing craftsman. He could take anything apart and put it back together. His mechanical ability led him into a career as a plumber and pipe fitter and he was a proud member of UA Local 357. Dave was a musician and had played guitar as a part of several bands. In his younger days he enjoyed roller skating with friends at Rollerworld, where he also had one of his first jobs. He could skate backwards, do backflips and other acrobatic tricks in front of others. Dave was always willing to help others and was well-liked by those who knew him. The world is a better place for having had him here. Dave is survived by his sons, Keagan Kreps and Cameron Conroy; sister, Victoria Kabbe-Penny; nephew, David W. Penny; countless friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
My condolences to David’s sister Vicki on the passing of her beloved brother.
RIP brother
You will be deeply missed by many people. We loved you a great deal. Prayers go out to Vickie and your family. R.I.P. and God Bless. Pam Laylon
I am so stunned to see this. I knew Dave from the skating days as we all hung out for many many hours at Rollerworld. Dave was the kind of guy to do anything for anyone and was friends with everyone he meet. Heaven received an Angel that’s for sure. My prayers go out to Penny and family.
Dave was always around to help, inspire and be a friend. This is indeed sad. I remember all the interesting times we had growing up, hanging out with Kori Youngblood, and Dave Parker. I wish his family peace.
