Age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Denis was born on August 15, 1950, the son of the late Roy and Norma (Spealman) Homan. Denis was a kind, generous, and loving man whose character was founded on his belief in Christ. He was a long-time member of Prairie Baptist Church where his smile and joy will be missed. Denis gave selflessly to help those in need. He was always involved in various community service projects. He served as a Captain and volunteer firefighter for Wakeshma Township and served as a Galesburg City Commissioner. He was also a volunteer first responder with the South County EMS. He lived in Tampa, Florida for 10 years, during which time he worked as a teacher at West Gate Christian School and as a Construction Supervisor. He worked hard to provide for his loved ones. He also enjoyed working on and fixing cars. Above all Denis loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, and they were always at the center of his heart. Denis was a patriot and served as an infantryman in the Army during the Vietnam War. His devotion to our nation was something he always carried with pride. To know Denis was to love him, and he will be missed. On August 13, 1977, he married the love of his life Karen (DeGrush) Homan who survives. He is also survived by two children, Elisabeth (Joseph) Martin and Julia (James) King; six grandchildren, Sophia, Amelia, Elesia, Anastasia Martin, Dominic and Ezekiel King; two siblings, Lynn (Jerrie) Homan and Steve (Deb) Homan; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Bethany Homan and a sister, Diane Wendorf.
