A memorial service to celebrate Don’s life will be announced at a later date. Interment with full military honors will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Turkey Tracks Hunt Michigan, DC Strong or Friends of the Greater Plainwell Veteran’s Memorial.
Obituary
Age 78, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021. Don was born in South Haven, Michigan on March 27, 1943, the son of the late Merle D. and Wilma J. (DeFriest) Morehouse. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, guns, shooting and fishing. Don built three houses during his lifetime and was a member of the “Electrified Amish”. He officiated many rocket football games in its early days and coached his son’s baseball teams. Don, who had a unique palate, especially loved peanut butter and mayo sandwiches and mudslides. He also loved making memories with his kids and grandkids. Don is survived by his wife, Nancy (Frampton) Morehouse; children, Chris (Patty) and Arron (Jamie) Morehouse and Brandy (Jake) Wheatley; five grandchildren; twin sister, Donna (Jerry) Gorton; brother, Merle (Bonnie) Morehouse and sister, Julie (Harold) Brantley; and an assortment of semi-adopted kids and family members. I sure am going to miss you Pete. You had me to the point that I looked forward to all your harassment at the diner… Such a big goof, that made me smile so wide it hurt my cheeks.. every time. Then always a soft kind word before we parted. The world is going to miss you sir. I will never again pick up a set of green ripstix without thinking of you… I have no doubt you will keep the Angels entertained… Gosh life is to short .. love you man ~
