Obituary
Age 78 of Kalamazoo passed away Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025. Doug was born in Kalamazoo on June 26, 1947, the son of Ralph Kline and Kathleen (White) Banner. On February 14, 1969, he married Catherine Tibbitts who survives him. Doug worked for many years as an auto body technician. He loved his work and still enjoyed watching the television shows on auto body repair. When he wasn’t working on real cars, he liked putting model cars together. He had a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, and he and Catherine were members of a local riding club. Nothing was more important to him than his family, especially his grandson. Besides his wife, Doug is survived by his sons, Scott Banner of Kalamazoo, and Albie (Erin) Banner of Kalamazoo; grandson, Sam Banner; sisters, Cheryl Perkins, Linda (John) Crookston, Deborah (Randy) Zandt, and Nancy Sanneman; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents with whom he was very close; brothers in law, Gene Perkins and Len Sanneman.
