A celebration of Betsy’s life will take place on Friday, September 17, 2021, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM CST at Cummings Lodge, 350 Grangemouth Rd., LaPorte, IN 46350. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Obituary

Age 61, died on Saturday, August 28, 2021, surrounded by her family. Betsy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 20, 1960, the daughter of Walter, Sr. and Elizabeth (Fredericks) Kissling. She had spent the last seven years of her life in Mattawan and prior to that in LaPorte, Indiana and Darby Borough, Pennsylvania. Betsy graduated from Darby Colwyn High School and attended Olympia Career Institute to become a certified massage therapist. She had spent the past five years as a bus driver for Mattawan Consolidated Schools. She was dedicated to her work-life, but nothing was more important to her than her family. Betsy enjoyed crocheting, completing puzzles, traveling, coloring on her phone and being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Kissling; daughters, Liz (Jason) Schrier and Charleen Fewtrell; son, Charlie (Bridget) McCrudden; grandchildren, Kaylie, Blake, Tyler, Damion and Olivia; sister, Edna (Richard) Loop; brothers, Harold and Raymond (Michelle) Kissling and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and long-time friends. Betsy was preceded in death by her father, Walter, Sr. and brother, Walter Kissling, Jr.

Our hearts hurt… Karen and I have known Betsy and her family for many years. Our visits were happy one, Betsy made sure of that with her quick wit and charm. Betsy, you lost the battle, but you won the war. You are in God’s hands now, the promised land. You can now see all your family from the view you have, and keep them safe. Rest easy, you got this.
