I’ve had many good times with Gene. He would drive to New Mexico and we would spend a few days touring the country. I did the same when I came to Michigan. I will miss him he was a very good friend.

I have not seen Gene since our 1962 graduation. During the 4 years of high school, I enjoyed talking to him and considered him to be a friend.I often wondered what he became in life. I am sorry to hear of his passing and offer regrets to his family. He truly was ” one of a kind “

“Grandpa Gene” was what he let our daughters call him. He was not just a friend but an adopted member of our family. We were blessed to make a trip to NM with him see more of my family who had also adopted him. He found a basketball hoop for the girls to practice in the driveway (from a pile of garbage on junk pick up day) and he tossed the truck keys to us to drive for short for ice cream trips. Thank you Jack and Joyce for all that you have done!

Uncle Gene was truly one of a kind, quirky and funny. I could always call him with my “electrical” questions… and we would inevitably end up talking about his neighbors, his newest truck, or how he found yet another Gaither cassette tape at a garage sale. It was truly heartbreaking when he became ill, and could no longer come to holiday dinners. My family all have missed his goofy humor and stories about his trips to New Mexico. We also shared a belief in Jesus Christ, which brings us great comfort in knowing that he has ascended into heaven to meet his Lord and Savior. Our sincere condolences to Jack and Joyce, and my mom Katherine, who have not only lost a brother, but also a friend.
