Obituary

Evelyn Charmaine Heerlyn, 93, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026, following a brief illness, just five days short of celebrating her 94th birthday.

Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late William Heerlyn, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. A dedicated and proud professional, Evelyn retired from Hudson’s/Macy's after more than 20 years of service, a job that brought her immense joy and where she made many wonderful, lifelong friends. Following her retirement, her ability to remain independent and live in her own home until the age of 92 was made possible by the deep devotion of her granddaughter, Jennifer. Jennifer's exceptional help and care allowed Evelyn to enjoy many extra years in the comfort of the home she loved.

Known affectionately as "Koko" to those who loved her most, Evelyn’s greatest legacy was her family. She adored her grandchildren, who returned her love tenfold, surrounding her closely during her final days. Evelyn truly had a story for everyone; she loved to talk, connected with anyone she met, and always found a listening ear.

Evelyn is survived by her loving children, Diane (Dave), Bill, and Tom (Kelly), as well as her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout her older years and during her final illness, she was filled with absolute happiness by the constant presence and visits of her family, which truly warmed her heart. She deeply treasured the time spent with her sister Marion and brother-in-law Dennis, as well as her brother Tom and sister-in-law Janet. She was also deeply cared for by her dedicated neighbor, Carol Pletcher. While 94 years is a long, full life, those who loved her wanted more time with a woman who still had so much left to give.

Life will be profoundly different without our mom, grandma, and sister but we will do our best to carry on her legacy. We love you more, and you will always be our Koko.
