In accordance with his wishes, there will be a committal ceremony with full military honors on Tuesday September 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. to be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Family and friends are requested to arrive to the cortege area prior to the time of service.
Obituary
Freddie Lee Shields, Sr. passed away in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born in Belzoni, Mississippi on June 28, 1957 to Robert Phillips and Lillie Mae Shields. He graduated from Humphreys County High School and attended Alcorn State University as well. Freddie served his country in the United States Navy and retired after 24 years of service as Chief Petty Officer. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Freddie Lee Jr.; step-daughter, LaTanya (Alan) Banks; step-son, Alan (Maria) Peters; grandson, Anthony Banks; sisters, Ethel (Willie) Body and Alyce (Melvin) Olive; brothers, Leroy Frazier and Robert (Adrienne) Shields; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Freddie will be missed by all who loved him. Family and friends are encouraged to leave a message of condolence below.
