Obituary
Age 97, passed away at Kairos Dwelling on July 2, 2022. He was born in Dorr, MI, on January 20, 1925, the son of the late Ivan and Nancy (Barrier) Drake. George was a hard worker and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He retired from the James River paper manufacturing company after forty-three years. When not working he loved to travel and explore new places. He enjoyed spending time in Florida where he would spend Winter. He had a passion for sports and enjoyed watching and playing all kinds. He also enjoyed board games and other hobbies. George lived a wonderful and fruitful life and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son, Keith (Chantal) Drake; daughter, Gail Munn; three stepsons, Mike (Shirley) Powell, Mark (Cherie) Powell and Alan (Shirley) Sprague; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was also preceded in passing by his loving wife Bertha (Horrocks) Drake, a daughter, Yvonne Booth and several siblings.
We were all saddened to hear of George’s passing. He was a wonderful, fun loving man who we considered a part of our family. Our sincere sympathy goes out to all his family & friends. He will be missed.
I was so blessed to be able to visit with and become a friend to George while he was here in Park Village Pines. I loved his strong handshakes, and he always had a smile waiting for me! So sorry to all the family for your loss. He is missed by all of us! May God give you His peace and comfort during this time.
