A memorial service will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will occur at a later date at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Obituary
Age 72, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019. Jerry was born in Hastings, Michigan on October 17, 1946, the son of the late Charlie Thomas and Rosa Lee (Zettler) King. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served honorably during the Vietnam War. Jerry retired from General Motors after 39 years of employment. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing many different sports his whole life. On April 18, 1970, Jerry was united in marriage to the former Denise L. Hollenbeck, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Lisa King and Michelle (David) Bogda; grandchildren, Justin (Caty) King, Ashley McReynolds and Madeline, Dawson and Olivia Bogda; great-grandson, Patrick James and siblings, Sam King, Charlie King, Melba Strouse, Sandra (Walt) Hall and Richard King. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis and brother, Darrell.

Dear Denise, Lisa, Michelle, and all of your family– Jerry was the sweetest, nicest man, and I have good memories of spending time with him and with you, Denise. I’ll always remember Jer as one of the kindest men I’ve ever known. I feel blessed to have been able to call him my friend for so many years. Denise, Shell, Lisa, Ash, Justin and the rest of you all. My thoughts are with you, for you’ve lost a most wonderful man.
