Obituary

Age 66, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 27, 2020 Jack was born in Ft. Riley, KS, on August 19, 1954, the son of Jack Wilmer and Patricia (Roberts) Calhoun. On February 3, 1989, he married Donna Soderquist, who survives him. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army and served in Viet Nam. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Nothing was more important to him than his family and he supported his children in everything they did. He was a nurse at Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital for 25 years before retiring in 2009. Jack’s last gift to this world was through Gift of Life. Besides his wife, Jack is survived by his children Jack W. (Jennifer) Calhoun III of Lansing, Ami (Hugh) Naeyaert of Oak Harbor, WA, Melissa (Thomas) Casey of Shelbyville, IN, Rachell (Dayoung Park) Calhoun of Grand Rapids; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; step-mother, Jo Calhoun of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Debra (Tom) Damron, Marge Skinner and Dawn (John) Ewing; brothers, Robert (Tammy) Calhoun and James (Marilyn) Calhoun; several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Angela Calhoun.

Jack, – I will miss your visits, looking for candy in the bowl – knowing we kept your favorites hidden for when you would come in – and then putting that last piece in your shirt pocket. You were always looking forward to the next getaway with Donna. Donna my heart hurts for you. There is nothing that makes this fair and your time with Jack stolen to soon. I will miss hearing Jack talk proudly of all you do for others often with a little shake of his head in how you do it. Take care of yourself. Hugs. Denise
